Multigenre and me

I really like the idea of multigenre writing. The idea of including songs, comics, or photographs to tell a story is an amazing idea. I really think that it would allow students to find things that they are interested in and engulf themselves in the assignment. It could also teach them that a story doesn't always have to be told or read, but can be seen as well. I believe that this is definitely something that I would use in my classes in order to get students interested in different areas of literature and writing. I think it would be cool to have the students do a multigenre project about the life of an author of their choice. This way they could not only research the author and learn about them but also present the story of the authors life in a way that they saw it. This style allows for a lot of creativity and freedom on the students part and could really encourage students that have a tough time with many of the other assignments that don't allow for such creativeness.
By doing this project you would allow students to incorporate some of the things they may already be into like songs or comics and including it in an assignment for school. I think that this is such an important project for students to do because it allows them to share themselves in their school work. I want my students not only learning about writing, but also about themselves and world around them. I think that writing classes are the biggest opportunity in a school that a student has to get to know about themselves. I really learned a lot about myself and still do from writing classes that i've taken. I think students should be aware of the issues that surround them and things they will need to deal with after high school too. What better way for them to find out how they feel or are affected by the things going on in the world than to write about it and analyze their feelings on different things.
This is one of the things that I like about the multigenre project. A multigenre project can be done on pretty much any topic and from pretty much any view. I have every intention to teach multigenre in my classroom and I think that every writing teacher should.
